HISTORY.
He only remembers the pain. the excruciating pain that coursed through his body like a drug. it's fast. quick-acting. venom pumped into him while thick, hot blood poured out of him almost as if he were a broken faucet. too much to try to control it, too much that tried escaping, finding freedom, and staining fabric. so, so much blood.Lucky does not know what claims him unconscious first. Was it the mere shock of being attacked? Was it watching his blood pool down around him? Was it the violation that had sent his mind spiraling? Either way, he was done for. he was deemed a goner. Another life claimed at the hands of a bloodthirsty villain.or so he thought-- so they all thought.Time doesn't exist in the slightest. it's just survival. Whether he will or he won't. he's still in shock. at a loss for words, and finding his loved ones' body on the ground, mangled and marred, it did not help— his poor mother and father. Life stripped away so easily? And for what? Why would anyone want to do something so horrendous? Was this death or a nightmare? Neither. How was he still alive? He wasn't. Who did this? Who was to blame? Who could he point his anger towards?Lucky couldn't find an answer to the single question. Many years later, and it was still something he could not solve. The only thing he knew was that everyone around him was dead. Including himself.The first few years after the change were no walk in the park. It was much like teaching a baby how to get its bearings. except this baby was a grown adult and instead of crying and craving for love and attention, Lucky was after something else. Much like his attackers, he wanted the rich, metallic taste of blood pouring into his mouth constantly. The thought of it drove him mad. It had him stumbling through the city streets and claiming victims in the night. No remorse. No forgiveness. Nothing but want. Desire. Survival. His new way of life.

After clearing his head while claiming countless, Lucky makes his way to the only other people he considers his family. He is a bloodied and confused mess when he arrives on his uncle and aunt's doorstep. Supernatural creatures weren't a mystery in New Orleans, something spoke about in whispers mostly, but his family were believers. They knew of the horrors and lived to pass down the tales.It's why they take him in, why they bathe him, clothe him, feed him (again). They try to soften the blow of the sudden change in worlds. When he comes to though, he sees red. Not red for hunger, but red for anger. His emotions become unchecked, he's ready to lash out, ready to destroy. His strength has changed and it takes everything and everyone in the house to barely keep him under control. They have no choice but to seal him in the basement, under an enchanted lock and key. It's where he stays for a long while until they finally figure out a solution to this new problem. Or what they think is one anyway.Lucky and the family find their way in South Korea sometime after his change. It's at the news that the matriarch of the family is sick and dying. She spent so many years dedicated to serving others in the family's longstanding restaurant. Many have loved her, many have cursed her. She was a pillar in the community and family. What would they do without her? How would they survive?She decides that she will go out on her terms. No cowering in fear at the imminent claim of death. No. She would live out her last moments of life to the best of her ability. She would live without fear. Without care. With joy. With purpose. So she takes it upon herself to raise up Lucky to be an upstanding pillar of the community, too. Just in a different way...

She teaches him many things, some new, some not so new. What his parents started, she had finished. From culinary skills to French, Spanish, and Korean. She instills discipline and obedience. Control. Her methods are interesting. Ranging from mild to quite extreme. It could explain his affinity for more taboo things. Over the years, they built a bond unlike anything he's shared. When he does good, she rewards him with fresh bodies. She teaches him how to hunt on his own eventually, too. He does good with that, naturally, and she promotes him. She gives him purpose. He could be put to good use.He learns to lure and capture fresh victims. Brings them home, kills them dead, turns them into soup the next day (or whatever's on the menu). The bond turns transactional, but he does not mind. He's having fun, he's enjoying himself, he's serving a purpose he didn't think he had.Things take a turn for the worse. She becomes bedridden and Lucky loses himself once again. Spirals like he did so long ago after the death of his family. He didn't want to lose anyone again. But she reassures him, tells him this is just the cycle of life. Living and dying. Beginning and Ending. What he does in between can either go down in history or fade.If she taught him anything, it was that with enough effort and belief, he could shine bright like any star. He would go down in history. He decided in that moment not to fade.How could he? He's lived and died but still, his journey was only just beginning.

Nobody knew what Lucky was at first. Noticing the bloodlust and the puncture wound on his neck, his aunt and uncle assumed he was some sort of vampire. After experimenting with sunlight, they were able to deduce that Ares was in fact, nightwalker.
While his parents did not have direct careers in the food business, cooking is just one of the few hobbies Ares shared with his parents. Losing them, he lost his desire to create. Gaining his grandmother, he found passion for it again.
He has no idea who his sire is. Though he promised to take them out the first chance he gets.

Nothing can fill his hunger like blood, but Lucky enjoys sweets treats and anything sugary.
Ares is naturally standoff-ish. Mostly because he knows what the bloodlust can potentially due to him when he gets close to other people. However, that doesn't mean he is friendless or a loner. It takes him longer to develop meaningful bonds with people outside of his family.
Due to his grandmother's extreme teachings amongst his family's way of bringing him up into this new life of his, Lucky has a skewed perspective on love, relations, and the sort. physical, damaging acts mean more to him than proper affection.
